Sita Sunil's Tapestry Paintings exhibited at New Haven Folk Festival

Sita’s paintings are exhibited in the New Haven Folk Festival, a multi-disciplinary arts festival and exhibit curated by Second Floor Hardware School.

My tapestry paintings from a new ongoing series I’m working on are on view at the New Haven Folk festival! These are huge paintings done on canvas that can be hung up or framed and are inspired by several types of South Asian folk art including Pichwai and Cheriyal scroll paintings as well as illustrated manuscripts such as the Akbarnama,  with with modern influences.

The New Haven folk festival is a pop up show running through Sept 23 on weekday evenings at Havenly Treats and celebrates all different kinds of folk and folk inspired art, and includes a lot of unique paintings that are hung from the ceiling! They are also doing all sorts of events in the space so check it out if you’re in the area!

Thank you to Jisu and Kuli for including me in the first Folk Festival along with the other amazing artists!
